Hilsa: Hilsa fish is considered to be one of most favorite and delicious fish in the world. It is the most popular fish to the Bengalis who call it as Ilish. It is found in Indian sub-continent. Hilsa is an oily fish and rich in essential omega 3 fatty acids.
Approximate weight of One Raw Hilsa before Cleaning and Cutting:
Medium Size: 400gm to 500gm, Large Size: 1 Kg and Above.
Note: Nutritive value / 100 g of raw ingredients
Hilsa fish, cut into thin pieces.
1 tsp black cumin seeds (known as kalongi in Hindi and kalo jeeray in Bengali)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder / haldi
2 to 4 green chillies
1 Tbsp mustard oil (or any vegetable oil)
Salt to taste
Shallow fry the Hilsa fish pieces, till golden brown. Keep aside.
In a pan, heat 1 Tbsp oil, add about 1 tsp black cumin seeds and let them crackle.
Add about a cup of water to it, about 1/2 tsp haldi, salt to taste and let the water come to a boil.
Add the fried Hilsa pieces. Split the the green chillies into two or cut them into half and add to the curry.
Cook for 2 mins.
Hilsa curry is ready. Serve with steamed rice.
Hilsa fish pieces
Pure mustard oil
Heat the oil in a pan.
Need to heat the oil properly so that the fish should not stick to the pan.
Now mix the fish pieces with salt and turmeric powder.
Then put them into the oil one by one. You can feel the aroma of hilsa fish immediately after 5-10 seconds.
Just gently reverse them on the pan and make them fried properly.
While frying them, you can see that oil from the fish is also coming out and this oil is too much tasty.
Now after finishing this, Just take a onion and green chili and with this oil have some boiled rice or bath.
Just has a mouthful of rice with a bite of onion and fish fry.
